1. Claim your Google Business Profile
It is free and it is what appears on Google Maps and in the box beside search results. Add your exact business name, address or service area, phone number, opening hours, categories and real photos. Keep it up to date: it is often the first thing customers see.
2. Give Google a website to read
Your website should say clearly what you do and where, in plain words: “Electrician in Leeds”, not just “Welcome”. Each main service deserves its own heading or page. Make sure every page has a clear title and description, and that the site is fast and works perfectly on a phone.
3. Keep your details identical everywhere
Use exactly the same name, address and phone number on your website, your Business Profile and any directories. Consistency helps Google trust that it is all the same business.
4. Ask happy customers for reviews
Genuine reviews help you stand out on Maps and reassure new customers. Ask after a job goes well and make it easy with a direct link. Reply to every review, good or bad, politely. Never buy or fake reviews: it breaks Google’s rules and can get your profile removed.
5. Be patient and keep going
Search results take weeks or months to move, not days. Keep your profile active, add photos, and keep your website current. Small, steady improvements add up.
